Reamers are used to align holes in materials that will be connected by bolts, rivets, pins, or other fasteners. They have pilot type points for alignment purposes and easy entry into small and off-center holes.
Bridge Reamers are designed for use in structural steel, in the building industry, bridge erection, and ship construction.
Construction or "Car" Reamers are a shorter length than Bridge Reamers. Their shorter length permits their used in cramped quarters where Bridge Reamers cannot enter. The term "car" comes from railroad car, as these reamers are frequently used in the construction of railroad cars, where space is limited.
